The National Botanic Gardens are located in Glasnevin, a short drive from the Spencer Hotel. Entry to the gardens is free of charge and give you the change to enjoy an oasis of calm and beauty. The gardens, which have been around since 1790 work hard on a conservation programme where there are over 300 endangered species from around the world within the grounds. There is an aim to educate and increase public awareness of plants and their importance to people globally.

The Botanic gardens are home to over 15,000 plant species from all around the world. Split into sections there are wildflowers from Ireland, the sensory garden, the rockery, a fruit and vegetable garden amongst others.

With so many other lovely features in the garden, it is a great way to spend an afternoon in the sunshine.

PLEASE NOTE:

There are 7 different glasshouses located within the grounds and are well worth a visit, each housing different plants and holding a lot of history. Other features in the garden include the sundials, bandstand, the chain tent and the Viking house giving lots of great photo opportunities throughout the gardens.

The Botanic gardens are just a 10-minute drive from the Spencer Hotel. You can also access the gardens by taking the number 4 or 83 bus from O’Connell Street.
