Christ Church Cathedral is one of the most famous landmarks and the oldest building in Dublin, having been a place of pilgrimage for over 1,000 years as well as a leading visitor attraction. Originally a Viking church the cathedral has a beautiful interior and you will be in awe as you walk around and take in this magnificent structure. The Crypt, one of the largest in Ireland, holds the treasures of Christ Church which include a royal plate given by King Willian and a rare 14th-century copy of Magna Carta Hibrerniae. A must-see is the cat and the rat, while unusual they are most popular. The story goes that the cat chased the rate in an organ pipe and became stuck and unfortunately died.

The church bells, 19 in total ring on a daily basis and the oldest bells are from 1738. If on a guided tour you may be lucky to try ringing them yourself.
